Over the past couple weeks my family and I have been packing up the house in Asheville, NC to move to Greensboro, NC. I have been overwhelmed by the amount of stuff we have. In this time I have realized a few things:
1. We don't need all of the stuff.
2. We have boxes never unpacked from the move to Asheville.
3. Some of the stuff could be helpful to others.
4. A 26ft Penske truck is starting to seem much smaller
The list could go on but then you probably would stop reading. The reality is that it is time to clean house some. The black trash bags for trash and donations of stuff that clutters our life is on the way out. As I have been doing this I have been thinking about how we let things clutter our life and keep us from clearly seeing God and serving God effectively. We can do many good things and yet miss our God things and spending the all important time with God. It has also made me think how so much of our stuff could be helpful to others.
Let Go and Let God have control! For some things in life as my friend Byrd Baggett shares you need to "flush it and move on".
Back to the boxes and bags for me and hopefully ready to post again later next week.

We need to love not hate
Wow! As a North Carolinian today you would think I had to be excited or depressed about the vote on Amendment One. More than this amendment vote I am hurt by the actions of those on both sides of this amendment. I opened my Facebook this morning to see hateful post from both sides. It really bothers me to see pastors and members of churches being prideful and rubbing it in the face of those who voted against the amendment. It is the right of the people to choose what they feel is right, just as God gives us the freedom to choose.
Please take a look at what the Bible says in 1 John 4:19-21(NIV):"We love because He first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates his brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother or sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must love his brother and sister."
While I am sure you would love to know where I fall on this amendment, that is not what my blog is about. It is about loving one another. I do believe in speaking out for a cause, especially if I feel that is is what God wants. Let's get out there and love our brothers and sisters no matter their background, status, orientation, and convictions. Jesus died for all. Lets take up the causes of feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the needy, and sharing God's love with all. Please think twice before you post a status that could hurt someone else and turn them away from the Love of Christ.
